Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Math or other quantitative field or Business Management
  • New college graduates highly preferred
  • 0-2 years of related job experience or completion of relevant internship preferred
  • Minimum overall GPA of 3.5 preferred
  • Strong problem-solving abilities
  • Professional, business-level oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with limited direction
  • Must be adaptable to shifting work priorities
  • Have previous exposure to modern reporting platforms such as Cognos , Microstrategy or Power BI as well as proficiency in SQL query language is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Finance:
  • Understand & analyze monthly financial results; identify performance drivers & causes of variance to plan & prior year; present findings to leadership & make recommendations for improvement
  • Monitor departmental spending, identify budget variances & make recommendations to budget owners & senior management
  • Apply financial & economic concepts & use financial modeling techniques including ratio analysis, discounted cash flow (DCF), NPV/IRR and market analysis. Leverage analytical & visualization tools to present findings
  • Support rolling forecast & financial planning process
  • Perform profitability analysis on business segments, including distribution channels
  • Reserving:
  • Assist with premium and loss claim reserve analysis to assess the adequacy of relevant balance sheet items and to ensure there is sufficient capital to pay all claims
  • Perform in-depth analyses of historical business performance to accurately forecast future liability and loss related trends
  • Use statistical modeling to analyze and quantify company’s risk and uncertainty related to its insurance products
  • Complete and deliver internal and external reports, including financial and risk reports
  • Underwriting/Pricing:
  • Identify and predict trends within industries and partners.
  • Analyze partner and industry data to determine impacts of internal and external changes.
  • Provide analysis to support Sales and Client Services with regard to partner requests.
  • Assist in Pro Forma development for potential new clients and projects, including partner project research.
  • Performance Analytics and Data Science
  • Business Performance:
  • Analyze complex partner and channel data for trends, highlight in-depth interpretations and provide in-depth root cause analysis
  • Deliver timely, insightful, and actionable analysis
  • Develop highly effective predictive methods that support and improve business decision-making
  • Analyze effects of trends in customer behavior on revenue and profitability; recommend product, underwriting, sales, or marketing strategies that drive profitable growth.
  • Identify sources of unprofitability on portfolio and collaborate with functional areas to determine strategic actions
  • Develop processes and tools to monitor marketing, sales and profitability initiatives
  • Operations:
  • Analyze data to define trends and identify opportunities for improvement in customer service and processes, as well as reporting on impact of trends
  • Help compile and analyze data for presentations and prepare high quality materials geared to senior management
  • Provide data analysis and reporting to support cross-divisional projects and respond to inquiries
  • Support the organization’s budget process through ongoing units forecasting and staffing models
  • Data Science:
  • Identify business opportunities through the use of algorithmic, statistical, visualization, and data mining techniques.
  • Support the development of the data necessary to execute analytics solutions by collating and cleaning data from various sources to create input datasets.
  • Support exploratory data analysis and feature engineering to prepare data for modeling.
  • Build base models by selecting the appropriate approach per the data and business problem and carefully tune hyperparameters in order to produce the best result.
  • Support the communication of results to technical and non-technical audiences including senior business leaders.
