The Safety Engineer participates in the plant's Emergency Response Plan Process, annual response training drills, and facilitates Emergency Response Team meetings, ensuring training is up to date.
What skills are required for this position?
Required hard skills include Facilities Equipment Commissioning, Task Based Risk Assessment, Job Safety Analysis, and Emergency Response Plan, among others. Soft skills include effective communication, engagement with Element Champions, and training facilitation.
What does the Safety Operating System (SOS) involve?
The Safety Operating System involves supporting its adoption and implementation, driving the process of maintaining engaged Element Champions, and facilitating daily SOS meetings and monthly Safety Process Review Board meetings.
How is safety training managed for employees?
The Safety Engineer supports the identification and facilitation of the Training Management System and drives to 100% completion for all required health and safety training.
Who does the Safety Engineer liaise with?
The Safety Engineer liaises effectively with Statutory Authorities, OSHA and OHS Representatives, as well as Operations Leadership, Medical teams, and plant floor teams.
What is the role of the Safety Engineer in risk assessment and reduction?
The Safety Engineer acts as a Subject Matter Expert in technical and non-technical safety topics, supports Manage the Change processes, and ensures compliance through effective auditing, observations, and reporting.
