Requirements

  • Minimum Requirements:
  • BA/BS + EXTENSIVE or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • 20+ years of bridge design and plan development experience
  • Master of Science or Ph.D. in Civil/Structural Engineering degree
  • Professional Engineer in Texas
  • Project experience with TxDOT major bridge project design work and deliverables along with related to Texas state and/or local bridge design project work
  • Proficiency in software such as MicroStation, LEAP Concrete/Bridge, PTC MathCAD, CSiBridge and/or MIDAS Civil
  • Experience leading a staff of engineers and CAD personnel
  • Experience in the plan production of transportation structures such as bridges, culverts, sign structures and retaining walls
  • Excellent verbal communication and writing skills, including technical report writing
  • Structural problem analysis skills (including knowledge/use of design and calculation tools, software)
  • Knowledgeable of standard engineering practices, techniques, and applicable codes
  • Seismic and inelastic analysis and design experience is preferred
  • Ability to do occasional field work (site visits and inspections) and travel

Responsibilities

  • Senior technical resource may serve as technical advisor for AECOM’s Gulf Structures Division and the West Region Structures Team.
  • Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.
  • Develops and improves upon current study and design procedures to facilitate high-quality cost-effective work by others.
  • Participates in quality reviews and verification of project deliverables.
  • Develops construction cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts for projects.
  • Uses expertise in all steps of completing discipline component of PS&E deliverables and Alternative Delivery construction packages.
  • Performs quality control review of design calculations or drawings.
  • Prepares technical specifications, special provisions and special specifications.
  • Provides input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements.
  • Assists in business development support.
