Requirements

  • Required Qualifications: Graduate of a Social Work program or recognized equivalent required. Active registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW) required.
  • Additional Required Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated time management and prioritization skills are required. Proven conflict resolution and strong communication skills are required. Must be able to work independently and within a team environment. Ability to problem solve and demonstrate critical thinking skills is required. Demonstrated ability to provide comprehensive assessments to individuals within their physical and social environments is required. Must be able to cope with high levels of stress, fluctuating priorities, and time sensitive deadlines. Must be able to tolerate long periods of sitting or standing as well as repetitive movements. Must be able to participate in hands on psychosocial assessment of patients and families.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum of two years’ case management experience within the community, mental health program, or acute care is preferred. Previous Social Worker experience is highly preferred. Knowledge of computer applications such as Connect Care, Microsoft Word, Strata Pathways and e-People is preferred and an asset.

Responsibilities

  • The Social Worker II (SW) provides services to clients and families including psychosocial assessment, crisis intervention, education, treatment, advocacy, resource finding, consultation, and discharge planning. The SW II is responsible for the provision of services in accordance with established standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Covenant Health. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the HSAA Paramedical Professional/Technical Collective Agreement.

    We provide life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment coverage for all staff who are eligible.

  • Disability and income replacement coverage

    Eligible staff who are not able to work due to an illness or injury can get short-term disability or income replacement (for nonunion staff) benefits. You may get this benefit for a maximum of 24 weeks from the date of your disability.
