Mission & Purpose

James Hall & Co. Ltd. is a Lancashire-based family business, founded in Southport in 1863. James Hall & Co. Ltd. is one of the county’s largest employers with more than 800 staff just at the Bowland View distribution site and over 3500 staff working across the North of England. As SPAR UK's wholesaler and distributor for the north of England, we currently serve over 600 SPAR stores across the north of England, producing bakery goods, fresh cakes, pies and sandwiches and Asian cuisine from our company owned production sites. Re-investment has always been a priority to James Hall & Co. Ltd. and as a result the business has grown very successfully. In February 2011, we moved to a purpose-built distribution centre on the outskirts of Preston, overlooking Junction 31a of the M6. The unique design of our new depot ensures a truly multi-functional site capable of handling and distributing all types of goods as well as the manufacturing of fresh food. There is an incredible sense of pride in the longevity of our company and the fact we have stayed true to our roots for over 150 years. Our mission is simple, to be in business in another 150 years time.
