Responsibilities

  • Key job responsibilities
  • We’re looking for design leaders to bring radical thinking to both big-vision and fast-execution projects - getting stuff done in the short term while figuring out the next big thing.
  • Many of our projects move beyond the digital space and bridge into physical processes as well.
  • We work collaboratively in our design and prototyping studio to research customer behavior and needs, and define the customer experiences that meet them.
  • You will design for the Delivery Service Partner (DSP) network which is the largest package delivery channel for Amazon around the world.
  • You will design product experiences that enable DSPs to effectively run a logistics company and easily manage operations, personnel and finances.
  • Your work will help DSPs thrive as entrepreneurs and nurture a trustworthy DSP Amazon partnership, so that Amazon can continue delivering packages to customers worldwide.
  • You demonstrate an ability to work creatively around difficult design limitations, and you'll be responsible for managing your own work queue and crafting, pitching, and validating your design strategies.
  • You'll drive alignment and commitment to design decisions by soliciting, synthesizing and managing design feedback, and partner with peers and stakeholders to deliver tangible results.
  • Collaboration and facilitation skills are key capabilities for this role.
  • As a contributing member of our team, you'll maintain the highest design standards and act responsibly in the execution of these standards, as well as strive to continuously improve upon best practices and processes.
  • It's expected you'll demonstrate customer-centric judgment in your day-to-day design decisions and partner/stakeholder engagements, be an advocate for a quality customer experience, and understand your Amazon customer base, the competition, and the industry.
  • We adhere to a loose process for design:
  • We invent via collaborative brainstorming sessions
  • We prototype and simulate experiences with real customers, to whom we have access
  • We socialize vision upward and outward
  • We document the experience and support our tech teams
  • We launch and celebrate
  • We strive to accurately scope projects, reduce project thrash, and average a normal work week.

Mission & Purpose

Amazon is guided by four principles: customer obsession rather than competitor focus, passion for invention, commitment to operational excellence, and long-term thinking. We are driven by the excitement of building technologies, inventing products, and providing services that change lives. We embrace new ways of doing things, make decisions quickly, and are not afraid to fail. We have the scope and capabilities of a large company, and the spirit and heart of a small one. Together, Amazonians research and develop new technologies from Amazon Web Services to Alexa on behalf of our customers: shoppers, sellers, content creators, and developers around the world. Our mission is to be Earth's most customer-centric company. Our actions, goals, projects, programs, and inventions begin and end with the customer top of mind. You'll also hear us say that at Amazon, it's always "Day 1." What do we mean? That our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon's very first day - to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and focus on delighting our customers.
