Responsibilities

  • The post holder will have managerial responsibility for ward 18 in the absence of the Senior/junior Charge Nurse. He/she will provide professional, clinical and managerial leadership to the staff on the Unit with emphasis on nurse-led discharges.
  • The post holder will have ongoing responsibility for the quality of care, cleanliness, environment and infection, prevention & control within the clinical area and will provide professional advice and support at both ward and Directorate level.
  • To implement the Trusts’ Core Values, strategies and Philosophy of nursing, ensuring they are embedded into everyday practice and evaluate their impact on the customer experience.
  • To provide individualised patient care and develop/maintain standards of evidence-based care in nursing practice and policies within the Unit, monitoring progress through spot checks and audits.
  • To manage the work within the clinical area effectively and make the best use of resources; encouraging and leading service development accordingly. To ensure a balanced budget at the end of the financial year.
  • To ensure that professional accountability is maintained in line with the Nursing and Midwifery Council Code of Professional Conduct (2002).
