What qualifications are needed to apply for the Staff Nurse position?

Is there a preceptorship program for new nurses?
Yes, there is a dedicated ward-specific preceptorship and training program for all new starters to support their learning and development.
What types of patients will I be working with in the AMU/SDEC?
You will be caring for a diverse group of acutely unwell medical patients, including those with cardiovascular, respiratory, gastroenterological, and chronic health conditions.
Will I have opportunities for professional development?
Yes, you will have dedicated time to learn and develop your skills, along with ongoing training packages and support for re-validation.
How many beds are in the Acute Medical Unit (AMU)?
The AMU has a total of 56 beds, divided into Acute Medical and Short Stay Medical areas.
Can I rotate between different units within the AMU and SDEC?
Yes, staff are afforded the opportunity to rotate between both the Acute Medical Unit and Same Day Emergency Care unit.
What is the involvement of the multi-disciplinary team in patient care?
You will work closely with the multi-disciplinary team to assess, plan, evaluate, and deliver all relevant aspects of patient care, contributing to the clinical governance process.
Is night shift work required for this position?
Yes, the post holder will take delegated responsibility for the management of the clinical team and maintenance of high standards on a shift basis, which may include night shifts.
