Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related safety and/or in a health field from an accredited college or university or three years of work-related industrial safety experience providing a broad industrial safety knowledge base including general industry, construction and agriculture and appropriate training courses and seminars specific to the field of industrial safety.
  • A State Hospital employee must be able to obtain a valid Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card pursuant to A.R.S. * 41-1758.07.

Responsibilities

  • Survey hospital facilities, as part of the Environment of Care team, on a monthly basis to assess compliance with OSHA, Joint Commission and state licensing standards. Assist with the coordination and facilitation of the monthly Environment of Care Committee. Develop plans of correction as necessary, and track and follow up on all deficiencies.
  • Coordinate and document various safety exercises and real-life events to ensure compliance with Joint Commission emergency planning (EM) standards. Develop After Action Reports as necessary.
  • Update hospital policies and procedures specific to life safety practices. Including the hospital's Joint Commission Management Plans, the Emergency Operations Plan, and the Continuity of Operation Plan.
  • Monitor contractor compliance with hospital safety expectations and provide guidance when necessary.
  • Provide training to new employees during orientation, and provide on-the-job coaching to employees specific to safety issues.
  • Other duties as assigned as related to the position (typically 5% - 10%).
