  • Experience in a Technical Operations Management position
  • Experience within product testing with a focus on continuous improvement and new product vision
  • Expert in food safety processes and regulatory food laws
  • Extensive technical experience within the food or non food industry
  • Excellent stakeholder management with the ability to make difficult decisions
  • Science or Food Science degree
  • Experience of auditing/audit standards management
  • HACCP Level 3
  • Relevant specialist training e.g allergens, microbiology, pesticide management, cosmetics
  • Experience in line management

Responsibilities

  • Food Safety Management Strategy - Define and implement product safety strategy based on own expertise, internal and external expert advice as it applies to Waitrose. Safe and legal trading for Waitrose
  • Internal and External Account Management - Lead and develop the technical relationship with key accounts to enable a food safety framework; Horizon Scanning, Surveillance, Ashbury, AIB auditing
  • Compliance Management and Training - Delivery of supplier and OB technical KPI reporting to manage risk and ensure compliance
  • Leadership - Lead and support a technical team using Partnership Values to develop their potential and deliver the Waitrose Quality and Technical Strategy
  • People Manager and Leader of a team - Act in accordance with the Partnership’s purpose and democratic principles, constructively participating in co-ownership, and demonstrating to customers and each other that it is a better way of doing business. Share your knowledge, experiences, ideas and opinion to improve the Partnership, speaking honestly and frequently
  • Identify and influence development of new and emerging legislative requirements
  • Product safety policy creation for food safety matters to ensure supplier compliance
  • Delivery of a risk assessed surveillance programme to manage brand reputation and ensure due diligence
  • Manage food and non food horizon scanning to ensure proactive management of emerging business risk
  • Delivery of Supplier Audit Programme, for food and non-food and associated policy framework
  • Expert advice for food safety processes for technical category teams, retail management and customer teams
  • Systems strategy within Waitrose Own Brand, ensuring ongoing improvements in data quality and performance
  • Support the delivery of an effective B2B, local and regional and exclusive branded compliance programme
  • Delivery of integrity and risk management framework for Own Brand including recommendations for Partner training on compliance
  • Crisis management to protect brand reputation and minimise risk to customers including leading product incidents for branded and own label lines, with follow up activity for own label incidents
  • Create the conditions for all Partners to thrive, make their best contribution and achieve their potential
