What is the duration of the BBC Software Engineering Graduate Scheme?
The scheme lasts for 2 years, consisting of four rotations of 6 months each.
Where will the rotations take place?
Rotations will take place in London (Broadcasting House), Salford (Media City), and Glasgow (Pacific Quay).
What products will I work on during the scheme?
Participants will work on various BBC products including iPlayer, BBC News, BBC Sounds, BBC Sport, and BBC Bitesize.
What technologies will I gain exposure to?
You will gain exposure to technologies such as JavaScript, Python, Scala, AWS, Java, Kotlin, and Swift.
How are the rotations assigned?
The first rotation is assigned based on past experience, while participants choose the subsequent three rotations.
What is the salary for this graduate scheme?
The starting salary is £34,400 for positions outside London and £39,719 for positions in London, with potential raises during the scheme.
What kind of training and development opportunities will be available?
Participants receive ongoing training through the BBC’s Academy and other platforms, along with access to various internal and external courses, conferences, and mentoring.
What are the eligibility requirements for this graduate scheme?
Candidates must be over 18, legally allowed to work in the UK, and available to start in September 2025.
Is there a deadline for applications?
Yes, applications close at midnight on the 8th of December 2024.
What will happen after I submit my application?
If selected, candidates will be invited to an assessment day in January/February 2025, which includes a short technical test to complete at home beforehand.
