Requirements

  • At least 8-10 years of extensive experience in compensation and benefits management, including executive compensation
  • 10 years total rewards CoE experience with expertise in the PH employment landscape
  • Shared Services background so the candidate is accustomed to the work hours and flexibility required by job
  • Proven track record in designing and implementing successful total rewards strategies and programs
  • Familiarity with creating performance-based incentive programs and employee recognition initiatives that drive motivation and engagement
  • Proven exceptional strategic thinking to lead the development and execution of total rewards strategies that drive organizational success
  • Proficiency in designing compensation structures, conducting benchmark analyses, and ensuring internal equity
  • Proven excellent communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and effectively communicate total rewards offerings to employees
  • Regional or global compensation background is not required
  • Seasoned manager is likely to be attracted to this level than over-all leads who often handle regional/global scope

Responsibilities

  • Positions in this family are involved in the areas of staffing and recruiting, compensation, benefits, EEO, affirmative action, employee relations, organizational design and development, etc.
  • Positions in this function are responsible for design, development and deployment of tools, process and consulting around all enterprise-wide and/or customer compensation programs that support UnitedHealth Group and client group objectives of attracting, retaining and motivating key talent with programs that are competitive and responsive to external influences and internal objectives
  • Maintain knowledge of current best practices in the compensation field (e.g., theories, frameworks, technologies, and trends)
  • Provide ongoing consulting and collaboration with business and Human Capital constituencies (e.g., business leaders, Sales leaders, Human Capital Partners) to champion/ensure that compensation philosophy and best practices are integrated into Human Capital activities
  • Maintain knowledge of current best practices in the talent development field (e.g., theories, frameworks, technologies, and trends)
  • Provide training and education on compensation-related tools/processes/issues to applicable audiences
  • Develop ongoing communications to ensure awareness/understanding of Compensation programs, tools and changes for applicable audiences
  • Provide Tier II support for compensation cases escalated from HRdirect
  • Provide recommendations to support development/revision of Compensation strategies
  • Provide project management/support for projects related to Compensation
  • Manage/support Common Review and other Core Process activities (e.g., pay equity, communications, training, reporting) Design/update incentive plans
  • Administer pay/incentive programs (e.g., RRP, sales, base salary, OTH, QVC, actuarial student program)
  • Manage/participate in salary/budget surveys
  • Conduct market analyses and apply market data as appropriate to support compensation decisions (e.g., equity award decisions, promotions, salary ranges, total compensation targets)
  • Utilize compensation-related data to support administration of compensation programs (e.g., market/financial/sales data)
  • Identify discrepancies from market data (e.g., variance to market analysis)
  • Ensure that an enterprise-wide perspective is used across job families/functions when utilizing/analyzing compensation-related data
  • Conduct job evaluations as needed
  • Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regards to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment).
