CPKC is hiring for the Train Conductor position for March 2025.
What are the physical requirements of the job?
Candidates must be able to perform physically demanding work, including walking up to 10 kilometers a day on uneven ground, climbing up and down, and lifting or pulling heavy objects (up to 80 pounds on occasion).
What type of shifts will I be required to work?
You will work unscheduled shifts in a 24/7 operating environment, which may include up to 12-hour shifts during days, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays.
Is a high school diploma required for this position?
Yes, a high school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED) is required for the Train Conductor position.
What is the salary for a first-year Train Conductor?
You can earn up to $85,000 in your first year working as a qualified conductor.
What training is provided for new conductors?
CPKC provides 16 weeks of paid in-class and field training, where you will earn 80% of the job rate during classroom training and 90% upon successful completion of the classroom portion.
Are there any medical requirements for the position?
Yes, successful candidates are required to complete a pre-employment medical that includes a physical, vision (including accurate color vision), hearing, alcohol, and drug assessments.
What types of clearances are needed for this position?
Candidates must successfully complete a criminal history check, education verification, and driver's license verification.
