What is the main responsibility of a Youth Worker in this role?
The main responsibility is to build connections with young people and act as a mentor and role model, supporting them in both classroom and vocational settings.
What age group will I be working with?
You will be working with pupils aged 11-16 years old, specifically in Key Stage 3 and 4.
What type of needs do the students have?
The students have Social Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) needs and various additional needs due to experiences of trauma, neglect, or chaotic home lives.
Is previous experience in a similar setting required?
Previous experience in a similar setting, particularly with SEMH or PRU, is preferable. A strong background in mentoring children and young adults is also important.
What qualifications are needed for this position?
A Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent is preferable, along with GCSEs in Maths and English. Being computer literate is also necessary.
What is the duration of the contract?
The role is temporary with a view to stay for the full academic year, and depending on performance, it may lead to a permanent position.
What are the working hours?
The working hours are full-time from Monday to Friday, term time only.
How much does the position pay?
The minimum rate of pay for this role is GBP 100 per day.
What must I provide to be eligible for this role?
You must hold the right to work in the UK, have an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application, and provide two professional child-related references covering the last two years.
