navigation.about
Renown for collectively celebrating Asian cultures, ABACUS - Association of British and Chinese University Students - was founded in 2005 with the core value of uniting Asian students from all backgrounds (Chinese, Malaysian, Thai, Vietnamese, Korean, British-born Chinese, etc.).
As a society which prides itself on excellence, there is reason to why we are the largest Asian society within KCL, and we are still continuing to grow!
Throughout the year we hold weekly events which include both inter-university events and inter-society events within KCL. Our range of events is endless, meaning there’s an event for everyone! For an insight of what’s to come, these are a few of the events to look forward to: fresher welcome events (e.g. Fresher’s Icebreaker), food outings and events (e.g. All you can eat Dim Sum, dumpling making), inter-university dinners (e.g. Chinese New Year dinner), inter-university sports (e.g.football, dodgeball), activities (e.g. karaoke, go karting). Our clubbing events are guaranteed to be some of your fondest memories at university, with our famed boat party selling out within 1 minute last year! With fun nights out with the other 7 London ABACUS universities (Imperial, LSE, UCL, Queen Mary, Goldsmiths, Brunel and SOAS), many of our members have made lifelong friends within and outside of KCL through our events, and we hope you will to!
Don’t worry if you are not Asian or don’t speak another language: we are a society welcoming all people! Our membership entitles you to cheaper tickets to ABACUS events as well as exclusive discounts at various restaurants and shops around London!
Thank you, KCL ABACUS Committee 2020 - 2021
