Cardiff Sport & Exercise Medicine Society
Cardiff University
navigation.about
Teaching of SEM is limited for undergraduates; we want to provide new and exciting learning opportunities
To allow our members to benefit from being part of a society linked with highly qualified SEM professionals
To bring enthusiastic and like-minded people together who may be interested in a career in SEM, as well as those studying subjects allied to the topics covered by SEM - physiology, anatomy, neurosciences.
To share knowledge and experiences
To improve access to relevant work experience (some of our members have had placements with team doctors and physiotherapists for the Welsh rugby and football teams, Olympic athletes, international golfers, and many more...)
Whilst our membership is made up of predominately healthcare students we cater to a wider audience and encourage anyone with an interest to attend!
Previous titles of talks have included "A Career in SEM", "The Evolution of Medical Safety in Professional Boxing" and a variety of other talks from doctors, physiotherapists and dentists working within sport.
Planned Events for 2023/24 academic year:
We are hosting the Welsh Sports and Exercise Medicine Conference on 20th March 2024 at the All Nations Centre as part of a collaboration between Cardiff, Swansea & Bangor Universities. Attendees can expect insightful presentations, interactive workshops, and networking opportunities with leading figures in sports medicine. Purchase your tickets on Cardiff SU page or Eventbrite!
If you have any questions please drop us a message, email or DM and we will do our best to help you out!
