University Of Sheffield
navigation.about
This is a faculty-based, student-run society for members of the Chemical Engineering department at the University of Sheffield. The Chemical Engineering Society is here to give students a chance to meet and socialise with other people on the course as well as those from other engineering faculties too.
Our Instagrem page is the central hub where you will find all the information about upcoming events, sports, locations and timings. We host many events throughout the year, including two fantastic balls and great socials.
Alongside the variety of socials are the Campus Leagues which we hope to have 3 teams competing in again. These being football, netball and, new to this year, basketball. The society also arranges for members of industry to come and present, this is only avaliable because of our good connections with the IChemE and Energy Institute. We also organise the department's participation in the annual Frank Morton Sports Day every year, competing against many other Chemical Engineering Societies across the UK.
We are an all inclusive society with a strong aptitude to improve, therefore please forward any ideas for potential events as they will always be considered. Becoming a member entitles you to discounts on tickets for all events and sports teams during the academic year.
Standard membership for the academic year of 2023/24 will be at an affordable £5, with sporting memberships at £25. These will be available to purchase on the SU website.
ChemEngSoc is the social catalyst that turns academic peers into friends by implementing the “work hard, play hard” motto. Come join our society and see what all the fuss is about!
