Civil Engineering Society

CivSoc is the society for students studying any variation of Civil Engineering at Sheffield. It is run entirely by students with the sole aim of ensuring that, for the duration of your course, you have a great time with your fellow course mates. You’ll get to know members of CivSoc in all years and we hope that through this, the Civil Engineering Society will become a community, which can offer advice and support to one another. The society organizes both alcoholic & non-alcoholic socials throughout the year with a variety of themes and events, ending on our biggest socials of the year- the Winter and Summer balls! Once again, CivSoc will be travelling abroad to see the best sights and local nightlife that Europe has to offer! We can't wait to see you all there with us! We also offer a variety of sporting opportunities in our Campus league matches, with a men's (and for the first time) women's football team, mixed gender netball team, and another first for the year- a squash team. If football, squash, or netball isn't for you, lots of our members are part of the Sheffield Engineer's Rugby Society which offers both touch and contact rugby for all genders. Don't feel like you have to be the best player for any of our sports leagues- we encourage everyone to give it a go, it's a great way to get to know people on your course whilst having a bit of fun :) CivSoc also values the importance of insights from industry professionals. We schedule regular industry events, talks, and our 'get to know' series where you can learn about your fellow lecturer's careers!
