King's College London (KCL)

KCL Emergency Medicine Society Are you interested in a career in emergency medicine or prehospital care? Do you fancy racing through London on blue lights? Or do you simply want to improve your knowledge of common medical emergencies? King’s College London Emergency Medicine Society is the society for you. We aim to equip students with the skills, confidence and experience to be able to engage in critical care situations through the exploration of all aspects of emergency and prehospital medicine. KCL EMS is home to the KCL Prehospital Care Programme (PCP), where medical and nursing students can go on observation shifts with the London Ambulance Service. The PCP is a great opportunity to gain clinical exposure to real life emergencies and prehospital care, that is otherwise not offered throughout medical/nursing school. As the next generation of doctors and nurses, it is a fantastic way to enhance your learning and gain a greater understanding of emergency medicine. (Currently on hold due to Covid) EMS also runs a host of exciting and informative talks, webinars and skills sessions, open to students from any medical discipline. At these talks we hear from a range of leading medical professionals in EM and PHEM. Our very successful 'Coffee and Cases' series gives PCP students the chance to present interesting cases they have seen on shift.
