The UCL Language, Inequality and Politics Society (LIPS) strives to bring together people from a variety of disciplinary traditions to foster conversations about language, inequality and politics. We take as our starting points a fundamental acknowledgement of the interrelatedness of these issues and a need to reflect on the real-world implications in order to move towards taking concrete actions to promote social justice.Activities organised by LIPS include film screenings, workshops, talks, conferences, social gatherings, volunteering projects, among others. You do NOT need an academic background in language, linguistics, sociology or related areas to be part of LIPS, you only need to be interested and keen to participate.
