Welcome to the page of the United Nations Society @ Cardiff University. Our association is a platform for students from Cardiff University interested in Model UN, UN advocacy, charity, international relations education and everything else under the UN banner. We are part of the United Nations Association United Kingdom (UNA UK) network and are a recognized UN Youth Association (https://www.una.org.uk/branch/united-nations-society-cardiff-university).
Currently, we are Gold Tier Society! In the past, we have received the following awards: Best Newcomer Society 2013/2014, Gold Society Achievement Award 2015/2016 - 2020/2021
Participants need to research their countries' position, debate, deliberate, consult, and eventually develop a new UN framework with solutions to world problems.
We meet every week to debate a different global topic, which can range from issues including child soldiers, natural disaster response, nuclear proliferation, climate change, and any other topic a UN body might discuss. Attendees represent UN member states and various NGOs
Our members have the chance to travel across the UK, to various university conferences and abroad such as, Geneva, Brussels and others.
MUN is a great way to meet new people and express your views on many current affairs. It doesn't matter what your degree is in, MUN is a society for all. With a range of beginner and experienced debates available, having any previous experience is also not an issue! Come along to one of our sessions and get involved!
