Queen Mary Mens Rugby Club QMRFC is proud to be one of the most prestigious sports clubs at the university. We aim provide the opportunity for as many students to get involved in rugby throughout their time here. We are open to players of all abilities, from absolute beginners to seasoned pros. The rugby we offer covers 7-, 10-, and 15-a-side variations of the game, allowing our members to develop every aspect of their game. We also offer the chance for members to gain coaching and refereeing qualifications through the club. Take a look below to see what we have on offer for the upcoming 2019/20 season Inter-mural LeagueA new university league open to players of all abilities running for 10 weeks each semester. Training sessions will focus on learning the laws of the game, improving ball handling, tackling and other key skills. Tournaments held each week will involve mixed-ability teams playing 7s and 10s. This is a social game with a competitive element, allowing players to develop their rugby in a safe and friendly environment. The league will culminate in a 7s tour held at the end of semester 2.When: Wednesdays, 1:30pm-4:00pmWhere: Victoria Park (15 minute walk from campus)What to bring: Boots (or trainers), gum shield, sports clothingWhats provided: Coaching, equipment, bibs, club shirtCommitment level: Attendance is essential once assigned to a team BUCSAfter a year out of the league we will be returning to the BUCS leagues (league 4B). Of course with the disruption from Covid-19 we are waiting to hear when the league will be commencing. However, until then we will be following guidelines provided by the RFU and doing as much as we can. SocialsWe meet every Wednesday evening to celebrate the weeks achievements, providing the chance to get to know other club members in a more relaxed environment. Our events are the envy of all other sports clubs because of the variety of things we do. We aim to provide events that are fun and inclusive, however they’re not always for everyone. We are all part of the club regardless and we will strive to make you feel part of it.
