Welcome! If you don't know what the Slade School of Fine Art is, it is an art school at UCL, based in the quadrangle on the left hand side. Not many students know that it even exists, and this is one of the reasons why we decided to create the society: to build collaborative relationships with other communities and groups within UCL (and outside of UCL, too).Slade Society was formed this year as a way to build a strong community in and around the Slade. It is fitting that this year should be our inaugural one, because this feels like the year that we will need community, support and opportunities the most, at UCL. So we are very excited to go into the new academic year with new students, student-led activities, workshops, talks, and hopefully in-person exhibitions! The focus on things being student-led we feel is an important one, as there is lots that we can learn from each other that we do not share. As it is the first year of Slade Society, it will be a learning experience for all - we will be trying to get a brand new society off of the ground whilst also navigating the pandemic's restrictions. But we hope that the need for our envisioned community culture will help to make it the best it can be.This society is perfect for anybody interested in: art, working with artists, collaboration, the sharing of knowledge, putting on events, and generally getting to know different people.
