Imperial College London (ICL)
navigation.about
Imperial College String Ensemble (ICSE, pronounced 'ick-see') is Imperial's only society dedicated to performing the extensive and diverse repertoire composed just for strings. Rehearsals are fun and friendly, and take place on Friday evenings. We perform concerts every term in the local area, as well as taking part in many other exciting events throughout the year, such as charity concerts, festivals and even busking during the festive season. Our recent repertoire has included Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante, Vaughan William’s Five Variants of Dives and Lazarus and Tippett’s Concerto for Double String Orchestra, in a brilliant collaboration with the Nonesuch Orchestra. A variety of events are held after rehearsals, making Friday nights worth looking forward to - from dinners to game nights! Plans for 2019/2020 include a weekend away. As the College's only ensemble just for string players we offer a very different experience to the symphony orchestras. Rehearsals are relaxed, with light refreshments, but the music is always challenging and every member has the chance to make a difference. If you're interested in making yourself heard as a string player, why don't you join us? Drop us an email at icse@ic.ac.uk if you have any queries!
