Whether you are a seasoned tennis competitor, have never picked up a racket before, or are simply just looking for a way to keep fit, RUMS Tennis has something for everyone, providing an exciting platform for beginners and strong competition for advanced players. We run free professional coaching sessions for members of all levels every Wednesday, as well as extra squad training on Thursday evenings for those who wish to represent the Medical School in competition. We currently have three men's teams, one women's team, and a development squad for those pushing for a place in the top teams. Each team has the chance to compete in the BUCS (British University and College Sport) league as well as cup competitions such as the UH (United Hospitals) cup, the second oldest ongoing tennis tournament after Wimbledon which we boast to have won the last 5 years in a row. Members of our squad also have the opportunity to represent the UH team against top institutions such as the Royal Air Force, and train at the Wimbledon Championship's grounds. If playing tennis is not your style, that's still OK! You could still be a part of our strong social scene, with weekly Sport's Nights at the Huntley, national tours, dinners, and opportunities to go to the ATP World Tour Finals, Wimbledon and the French Open. RUMS Tennis is an opportunity to meet a diverse range of students from the Medical School and further afield, producing long-lasting friendships and improving your tennis ability along the way! Please join our Facebook group and follow our Instagram page (@rumstennis https://www.instagram.com/rumstennis/) for the most up-to-date information about the club, and don't hesitate to get in touch with any questions you may have!
