Widening Participation Medics Network

Widening Participation Medics Network (WPMN) is a national organisation with representatives at almost all UK universities, which aims to provide support, resources, and a community for medical students of a Widening Participation (WP) background. WPMN wants to improve representation of minority and ethnic groups in all specialties, so that medicine and surgery better reflects society as a whole and allows us to better serve every part of our communities. At a local level, WPMN Imperial will be used to broadcast unique opportunities to all students, including mentorship programmes, academic teaching and professional development workshops. We of course also will provide a space for WP students to discuss any issues they’ve faced. These issues will also be fed back to WPMN regional representatives to be discussed and tackled on a national level, allowing to lobby for change at a much larger scale with organisations such as the Medical Schools Council.
