The pharmacy department at Children&rsquo;s Minnesota is staffed by registered pharmacists and certified pharmacy technicians with specialized training in pediatric pharmacy. Our inpatient pharmacists perform daily rounds with providers and are essential partners in providing state-of-the-art pediatric comprehensive medication management services, pharmacy automation, IV production and compounding services. Children's pharmacists provide medication education, consultation and specialized drug information services, as well as participating in educational and outreach programs. We provide 24-hour inpatient operations services along with 16-hour decentral pharmacist coverage. Our inpatient decentral team includes trained subspecialists in neonatal, pediatric and cardiovascular critical care, including cardiac transplant, pediatric medicine, oncology, neuroscience, emergency medicine (including Level I trauma services) and research. Our pharmacists are also essential partners in the ambulatory setting, providing pediatric pharmacy services for home infusion, retail pharmacy, oncology clinic/infusion center and hemophilia treatment center, as well as medication therapy management (MTM) within our primary and specialty care clinics. We are committed to training the next generation of pediatric pharmacy professionals through mentoring of pharmacy students and post-doctoral training in our robust residency program, which includes post-graduate year one (PGY1) and two (PGY2) residencies in pediatrics and pharmacogenomics. Position Summary 
 
The Pharmacy Intern's responsibilities in the Pharmacy Department depend upon the number of years of pharmacy school completed in addition to in house training requirements. A Pharmacy Intern has the following responsibilities in the Pharmacy Department upon completion of in house training for a specific task and: 
 
Once the Pharmacy Intern registration is obtained - Intravenous product preparation; unit dose cartfill; inventory management; automated, decentralized medication stocking (ADMs); outpatient prescription order entry, outpatient prescription double check/verification; and outpatient medication counseling. 
 
After 2nd, 3rd and 4th year of pharmacy school - All previous responsibilities in addition to completion of Pharmacist clinical training modules; inpatient medication double check/verification; central pharmacy process flow management; compounding; answering drug information questions; pharmacy projects; obtaining medication histories;
 
 
Pharmacy Student qualifications: 
 
<ul><li>Currently enrolled in an accredited doctor of pharmacy program
</li><li>Intern registration with the Minnesota Board of Pharmacy required after completion of the first year of the pharmacy program. If hired prior to the end of the first year of pharmacy program a Minnesota Board of Pharmacy Technician active Registration is required until pharmacy intern registration obtained.</li><li>Pharmacy technician experience or vocational school pharmacy technician certification preferred.</li></ul> 
Foreign Pharmacist Graduate requirements:

Pharmacy Intern - Children's Minnesota

Pharmacy Intern

You must be enrolled in a pharmacy program, have a Minnesota Board of Pharmacy intern registration, and prefer technician experience or certification. FPGEC certification is also needed.

You will prepare IV products, manage inventory, enter and verify outpatient prescriptions, counsel patients, complete training modules, verify inpatient meds, and assist with pharmacy projects.

You need a high school diploma, 4 years of customer service, training experience, strong communication skills, proficiency in tech tools, and leadership qualities. Bilingual preferred.

You will manage staff inquiries, prepare schedules, train new employees, serve as the Welcome Center's first point of contact, and handle Operator Services across the Children's system.

This position is the daily contact for Welcome Center staff for inquiries around department updates, rotation changes, and overall daily workflow. This position prepares adjustments to schedules and timecards and maintains the Welcome Center resource directory. The Family Resource Lead facilities new employee access to programs and is the master new employee trainer, also serving as a primary resource for trainers. This role staffs the Welcome Center, providing first point of contact services and direction to patient and families, visitors, and staff to Children's Minnesota. This includes providing check-in, badges and health screens for all, relaying information about the Children's system, and working in collaboration with other departments to provide optimum support services. This position is also responsible for Operator Services for the entire Children's system.
