A large network of tunnels many levels deep would fix congestion in any city, no matter how large it grew (just keep adding levels). The key to making this work is increasing tunneling speed and dropping costs by a factor of 10 or more – this is the goal of The Boring Company. Fast to dig, low cost tunnels would also make Hyperloop adoption viable and enable rapid transit across densely populated regions, enabling travel from New York to Washington DC in less than 30 minutes.

Fields Operations Intern (Fall 2024)

The ideal candidate for the Electrical Engineering Intern position at The Boring Company should have a high school diploma or GED and be pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Electrical Engineering. They should have prior coursework or experience in Power Electronics, strong fundamentals in electromagnetism and mathematics, acute attention to detail, and strong teamwork skills. Knowledge of common serial communication protocols and hands-on experience with electrical tools are preferred, along with previous internship experience or participation in Not-a-Boring-Competition and hands-on experience in wiring electrical distribution panels. The position may require extended hours and weekend work, and is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

The Electrical Engineering Intern at The Boring Company will design and oversee the installation of electrical systems for tunnels and stations, select and source components, and collaborate with various engineering disciplines for integration.
