Requirements

  • The successful candidates are likely to:
  • Be an undergraduate student eligible for a year-long industrial placement in your penultimate year of study – to begin in June/July 2024.
  • Have skills or experiences which demonstrate an interest in investment management.
  • Be a highly motivated self-starter with a high intellectual curiosity.
  • Be proactive and have the humility and willingness to learn from and collaborate with their colleagues.
  • Have outstanding interpersonal and organisational skills, be resourceful, detail-oriented, and have a strong work ethic.
  • Able to provide examples of independent working, in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment, where priorities change frequently.
  • Have strong systems skills, in particular familiarity and versatility in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Language skills would be advantageous but are not required.

  • Client Group:
  • Client Group is the driving force of our new business development, relationship management, and client servicing efforts.
  • Investment Product & Fund Strategies (IPFS)
  • Combining investment knowledge, commercial acumen, and vehicle expertise, IPFS is instrumental in developing and managing a product and fund lineup that enhances our ability to attract and retain clients.
  • Marketing & Communications:
  • The marketing team is responsible for the firm's editorial, communications, design, client programs, and external web efforts. The team is collectively charged with creating and implementing marketing and communication strategies that promote the firm's investment capabilities and thought leadership, foster its global brand, and drive client engagement.
  • What is the Investment Platform?
  • Examples of teams within the Investment Platform:
  • Corporate Access & Research Services (CARS):
  • The CARS team works in partnership with our investors by managing and maintaining excellent relationships with corporates and external research providers alike, all while maintaining our firm's compliance with global regulators.
  • Investment Platform (Boutiques & Research):
  • The Investment Boutiques function comprises of investment professionals strive to deliver exceptional investment returns for our clients. The teams collaborate with each other and with other investors across the firm to identify opportunities and risks. Adjacent to Inv. Boutiques, the Investment Research function focuses brings in-depth ESG expertise to the investment dialogue. The team is tasked with facilitating the integration of ESG factors into investors’ decision-making processes in order to achieve our clients’ objectives across asset classes and geographies.
  • Investment Strategy (IStrat):
  • With clients seeking to do more with fewer firms, iStrat offers expertise across investment disciplines including manager research and multi-asset, factor-based, and thematic strategies to provide clients with strategic analysis and work directly with them on portfolio implications and implementation.
  • Sustainability:
  • Corporate Sustainability function provides a holistic view of the firm through the lens of Wellington’s corporate sustainability strategy by working with Wellington employees across the firm to promote and implement our corporate sustainability strategy internally.
  • What is the Infrastructure Platform?
  • Examples of teams within the Infrastructure Platform:
  • Finance & Administration:
  • The F&A team are responsible for the management of employee compensation and benefits, including pension and wellbeing plans, across Wellington’s EMEA offices.
  • Global Trading:
  • The Trading Department is responsible for the execution and settlement of all trades on behalf of Wellington Managements clients, with strong infrastructure and control environment focus to support the complexities of trading across regulatory regimes.
  • Investment Services and Technology (InvesTech):
  • The Investment Services and Technology (InvesTech) mission is to drive Wellington’s innovation and operational edge to exceed the investment and service expectations for our clients and business partners worldwide. We accomplish this by bringing technology and operations together to deliver better, more efficient outcomes. InvesTech comprises of teams such as Workplace Technology, Investment Implementation, Fund Servicing and InvesTech Operations.
  • Legal & Enterprise Risk (L&ER):
  • L&ER is an integration of pre-existing teams in the firm that we've brought together to focus on helping our firm better manage regulatory, operational and reputational risks on behalf of our clients. Teams include: Compliance, Operational Risk Management, Internal Audit and Privacy team.
