Requirements

  • Required Education:
  • Must be pursing a PhD focused in the following areas: Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Pharmacology or other related majors in the Biological Sciences
  • Must be enrolled in an accredited institution
  • Applicants who have completed their Ph.D. or Individuals who have already completed a prior internship at Genentech are not eligible for an internship.
  • Required Skills:
  • Must have mammalian cell culture skills
  • Other Qualifications:
  • Familiarity of some programming concepts such as using Python or advanced scripts in Excel would be preferred
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • The successful candidate will explore approaches to enhance expression of target proteins in mammalian expression platforms. Activities carried out during this internship will include:
  • Analyzing the impact of diverse functional elements (promoters, cis-acting elements, chaperones) in cloning vectors on recombinant protein expression
  • Testing protein expression and purification from different constructs using high throughput techniques in small and large scale formats
  • Evaluating different parameters to enable and streamline automation of recombinant protein expression
