Responsibilities

  • Hotel Accounting Placement:
  • The Hotel Accounting team acts as a custodian for the monthly management accounts of approximately 50 leased, owned, and managed Hilton hotels across the UK & Ireland and is the owner of the hotels' Profit & Loss and Balance Sheets. This involves calculating and posting all required journals at month end and completing balance sheet reconciliations.
  • As an Intern, you will be involved in banking setup and administration, responding to audit queries including SOX (internal and external), hotel additions and disposals and various continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Order-To-Cash (OTC) Placement:
  • The UK OTC team based in Glasgow are responsible for accounts receivable & collection activities across multiple regions. The deliverables within the team range from reviewing customer credit applications and billing activities to the collection of debt and allocation of cash received from customers. Collections are performed on behalf of our UK & Ireland managed hotels and involve working closely with internal stakeholders as well as our end customers who include travel agencies & large organisations holding events in our properties. The team are also responsible for the collection of franchise fees globally; US Domestic, Caribbean & Latin American, Asia Pacific & Europe Middle East & Africa. We work to targets within each monthly accounting period and are also responsible for holding monthly collections calls, and regional Debt Committee to discuss performance and next steps with senior stakeholders across the business. This role provides the opportunity to be part of an accounting function at a publicly traded global corporation and experience the volume and complexities it brings.
  • Process-to-Pay (PTP) Placement:
  • The PTP Team are responsible for ensuring correct expenditure accounting within Hilton by leading the efficient operation of processing and paying over 800,000 US and UK invoice transactions each year (translating to roughly half a billion US dollars!). Sometimes referred to externally as Accounts Payable, the PTP Team ensure that all Process to Pay processes are managed and measured with a ‘first time right' mentality and are constantly looking for new ways to optimise delivery within their area of expenditure control.
  • As an Intern, you will support across the entire lifecycle of purchase expense management, ensuring that payment performance is optimised, financial controls are complied with, and performance metric targets are achieved: all right first time.
  • Corporate Accounting Placement:
  • This team is responsible for carrying out compliance checks on Owned VAT return and Managed VAT calculations. Challenging teams and ensuring correct VAT has been booked. Following transactions from the VAT accounts to the source documents. In addition, a number of intercompany, analytical and reconciliation tasks will be completed.
  • As an intern in this team, you will combine accounting, analytical and organisational skills to effectively and efficiently contribute to the completion of quarterly VAT calculations. You will support the Manager and Senior Analyst of Corporate accounting team with Blackline admin tasks, GL close process, posting journals, UK Managed VAT calculations and balance sheet reconciliation. Additionally, you will be involved in performing and undertaking various other activities to support Hilton's Corporate Accounting team.
  • Revenue Accounting Placement:
  • Our Revenue Accounting team is responsible for managing hotel revenue and cash processes, completing daily audits, and reporting for around 45 UK & Ireland hotels. This includes the review of Rooms Revenue, Conference & Events, Food & Beverage, and other miscellaneous revenue streams. The team also perform analytical reviews of our routing pack (“Risk”) details and report findings directly to the Hotel General Manager. We are passionate about innovation and process transformation, with automation playing a key role in our daily operations.
  • As an intern you'll be at the heart of our operation, completing daily audits, VAT reconciliations, and ensuring compliance with revenue recognition standards and Hilton policies. You'll also gain hands-on experience of preparing journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, participating in audit queries (internal & external) and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • US Banking Placement:
  • The US Banking Team forms part of the Global Treasury Accounting team and supports our US hotels by reconciling all credit card, cash and voucher payments on a daily basis. The team supports in excess of 1,000 individual General Ledger accounts covering over 250 hotels located in the US, Caribbean and Canada. The role provides the Intern with a detailed understanding of all systems in place at Hilton and how they interact with each other.
  • As an intern, you will be involved in the daily reconciliation of revenue journals to payments, hotel transitions, system enhancements, balance sheet reconciliations and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Record to Report (RTR) Placement:
  • The Record to Report (RTR) Capital & Lease Accounting team located in Watford and Glasgow is responsible for the accounting activity which significantly impacts the Hotel & Corporate balance sheet and P&L, by combining accounting, analytical and presentation skills to effectively contribute to the close process.
  • As an intern, you will support the team with the monthly close process by performing invoice reviews, variance analysis, ad-hoc reporting requests as well as support the coordination with third party service providers, Hotel Finance staff and other cross functional teams within Hilton. You will be required to simultaneously manage multiple tasks and deliver to tight deadlines working together with the team.
