What is the duration of the apprenticeship program?
The apprenticeship program is a 4-year program consisting of 7 phases, including 4 on-the-job and 3 off-the-job training sessions.
What educational qualifications are required to apply for this apprenticeship?
The minimum educational requirements are grade D in five subjects in the Junior Certificate Examination or an approved equivalent, or the successful completion of an approved Pre-Apprenticeship course.
Is a driver's license necessary for this position?
Yes, a full driver's license is a requirement for this position.
Will travel expenses be covered during the apprenticeship?
Yes, travel expenses will be covered by the company as this is a field-based position.
What kind of systems will apprentices be working with?
Apprentices will be working with fire, security, and emergency systems to detect intrusion, provide surveillance, monitor and control access to buildings, and detect fire and emergencies.
Is mentorship available during the apprenticeship?
Yes, apprentices will enjoy full support from their line manager and a mentor throughout the program.
Will there be opportunities for career progression after the apprenticeship?
Yes, the apprenticeship provides a foundation for several career paths within the company, and Johnson Controls strongly supports career progression and promotion opportunities.
What type of skills will apprentices gain during this program?
Apprentices will learn to install, maintain, and repair state-of-the-art fire and security systems, including skills in equipment interconnection, programming, fault finding, testing, and maintaining equipment.
Where will the off-the-job training sessions take place?
The off-the-job training sessions will take place at our dedicated training center for three separate phases of 10-20 weeks in duration.
Are there any color vision requirements for candidates?
Yes, candidates are required to pass a color vision test approved by Solas.
