Description

  • BTC seeks a candidate for a Summer Intern (May–August 2024). The position will contribute to all aspects of applied research & evaluation processes. If selected, you’ll be part of our mission to support families & children & participate in several projects from disciplines including policy, social services, early care & education, Tribal & Indigenous communities, home visiting, mental health, and/or pediatric healthcare. BTC’s staff will provide mentorship as you learn about policy & practice areas & can provide opportunities to develop professional skills in qualitative & quantitative research & evaluation methods, data collection, & data visualization.

Requirements

  • Current undergraduate student in Human Development, Family Studies, Early Childhood Education, Psychology, Public Health, or related field
  • Comfort and/or experience working with individuals & groups from diverse backgrounds, disciplines, & communities
  • Ability to effectively contribute within a team setting
  • Attention to detail & strong organizational skills
  • Analytical, problem-solving, communication, & time-management skills
  • Basic knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Office Suite, EXCEL, Zoom, & general internet & electronic communication systems
  • Capacity & willingness to learn new software, research methods, & work routines quickly under the mentorship of Research & Evaluation team members
  • Interest in supporting families & their young children facing adversity.

Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation research & evaluation activities
  • Assist in the collection, tracking, entry, organizing, & filing of data such as surveys & evaluation measures
  • Assist in the development of datasets for analyses
  • Assist in management of qualitative data; participate in organization & synthesis of interview & focus group transcripts
  • Execute basic analyses under the guidance of staff members & mentors
  • Conduct literature reviews using internet-based search techniques & research databases
  • Assist in formatting, copy editing, & preparing evaluation reports & presentations
  • Handle & protect confidential & sensitive data
