Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in a degree program at an accredited college/university rising undergraduate juniors or seniors, graduate students, or post-doctoral students and remain academically enrolled throughout the internship or must have previously graduated from college and enrolled in a continuing education program
  • Must be a self-starter and adaptable, with the ability to work under tight deadlines
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, anticipate project needs, and discern work priorities
  • Ability to work well with diverse populations, including gender, race, and sexual orientation
  • Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
  • Familiarity with creating and editing videos and knowledge of multiple social media platforms is a plus
  • AARP will not sponsor an employment visa for this position at this time.

Responsibilities

  • Conceptualize, draft, edit, and schedule social media content for AARP Advocates channels, ensuring all visuals are consistent with approved branding and campaign messaging
  • Help prepare weekly analytics reports for both written and oral presentations
  • Provide social listening and “everyday influencer” interaction and support on both Facebook and Twitter with guidance from the team
  • Assist with video content production; responsibilities could include vetting potential subjects; filming AARP spokespersons both by phone and in coordination with AARP’s in-house studio team, and occasional editing (captions, end cards)
  • Attend meetings, including team meetings and one-on-one check-ins, agency meetings, weekly state calls, and trainings
  • Maintain and update social channels, including lists, video playlists, and other featured content.
  • On-site social support for Congressional hearings and other events as needed
