What is the application deadline for the CNN Heroes Internship?
The application deadline is Friday, February 28th, and it is recommended to submit your application as soon as possible, as applications could close earlier due to applicant volume.
Where will the internship be located?
The internship will be located in the NYC area, and the selected intern is expected to join the office on a regular cadence based on their intern manager’s schedule.
What are the program date options for the internship?
There are two program date options: Option 1 is from June 2nd – August 15th, and Option 2 is from June 9th – August 22nd.
How many hours per week is the internship?
Interns will be expected to work 35-40 hours per week in a hybrid capacity.
Is the CNN Heroes Internship a paid opportunity?
Yes, the internship is a paid opportunity with a competitive hourly wage of $19 per hour USD for undergraduate interns.
Who is eligible to apply for the internship?
Candidates must be actively enrolled in an accredited college or university degree program for the full duration of the internship, must be rising Juniors or Seniors (18 years or older), and must be in academic good standing (3.0 or above cumulative GPA).
Are international students eligible for this internship?
No, candidates currently on any student or exchange visa, including F-1 CPT, F-1 OPT, J-1, M-1, etc., will not be eligible for the internship program.
What are the responsibilities of the CNN Heroes intern?
Intern responsibilities include attending weekly department planning meetings, conducting research, assisting with organizational and administrative tasks, pitching ideas, and supporting producers during local field shoots and the production of the annual Tribute Show.
Will I receive school credit for this internship?
Credit is not required; however, the company will provide the necessary documentation for school credit if desired.
What personal qualities are required for applicants to this internship?
Candidates should be passionate about news, self-motivated, able to multitask, and capable of functioning well in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
