Description

  • Interns will work on Comms/Systems and Signal Engineering projects and will learn technical skills and design approach with relation to railroad and transit signal systems.

Requirements

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to independently manage multiple tasks and interact appropriately and positively with clients
  • Self-motivated with attention to detail
  • Robust technical and critical thinking skills
  • Exposure to CAD software such as MicroStation and AutoCAD
  • Qualifications:
  • Currently pursuing undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Must have the ability to conduct tasks independently
  • Strong interest in comms and signal engineering

  • Effectively interact with numerous VHB staff, clients, and consultants to advance projects in a timely manner
  • Engineering calculations
  • Contract documents including specifications
  • Assist in planning, analysis, preliminary and final design document preparation for transit-focused system infrastructure projects
  • Produce/draw railway signal and comms design drawings in CAD
  • Survey of existing signal and comms equipment on MTA and MNR

  • Our best estimate of the hourly salary range for this position located in New York is $19/hr - $28/hr. The final compensation will be based on a variety of factors such as individual qualifications, education, and experience.
