Requirements

  • Ability to work full time May-August
  • Currently pursuing a 4 year degree
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to track concurrent tasks across a set of goals
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to quickly learn how to use new software and tools
  • The following skills are considered a plus:
  • Passion for open source and working collaboratively
  • Knowledge of GitLab, Google Drive
  • Experience with graphic design and multimedia (e.g. Inkscape, GIMP, video editing tools, Photoshop/Illustrator, etc.)
  • Experience with prototyping and developing simple web applications, preferably in Python or static site generators
  • Interest in Linux and open source communities

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the setup, facilitation and completion of community events and activities
  • Communicate with Fedora contributors, project stakeholders, and Red Hat’s associates
  • Generate, research, and pitch ideas for the media content (e.g. blog posts, podcasts, videos) and assist with the creation of media by other members of the community
  • Create content to promote Fedora community events, important milestones during the release cycle, and make important contribution opportunities more visible (e.g. blog posts, social media outreach, posting on mailing lists and forums, infographics, videos, etc.)
  • Participate, contribute, and provide support to various Fedora teams and Community Initiatives
  • Stay current on project updates and industry trends for possible opportunities to create stronger, more engaging content
  • Work within a diverse community with various backgrounds, skill sets, time zones, and languages
