Requirements

  • What you’ll need:
  • New insights, perspectives and diversity of thought are all invaluable to us. Which is why you don’t need to have studied IT to join us in a Technology internship. To be considered for these roles you will need to:
  • Be a penultimate year student, studying for a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (in any subject), with one year of study remaining after the internship
  • Be intending to return to university for your final year of study after the placement
  • Be available to work full time (35 hours per week) for the full duration of the internship (2nd July - 6th September 2024)
  • Have right to work in the UK for the duration of the internship whether that be on a permanent basis, or with a visa that would allow you to work 35 hours per week. We are unable to offer sponsorship for anyone requiring sponsorship by Aviva due the roles not meeting the requirements set out by the home office.
  • And have:
  • A genuine interest in Cyber Security and a future career in technology
  • An analytical mind and talent for problem solving
  • The ability to explain complex technical and non-technical concepts clearly and be a confident communicator who loves to collaborate
  • A love of learning and the drive to keep developing yourself
  • Our summer internships are designed to be a feeder into our Graduate Programmes. After completion of the internship successful candidates may be offered the opportunity to return to us as a permanent graduate in September 2025 so we look for candidates who are interested in not only getting summer experience, but also those who are also looking to secure a future permanent role.

Responsibilities

  • Cyber Operations — Change & Resource Planner (Norwich) — this team is the glue that unpins the operational and change teams to ensure they have the resource capacity to meet Aviva’s cyber priorities. In this internship you’ll work closely with all Cyber teams delivering change as well as ensuring they have the right resources to deliver day to day activities. You’ll have a sharp and analytical mind, love working with data and get a real buzz from working with people too.
  • Application & Security Analyst (Norwich) — our Application & Security Analysts identify design and coding security vulnerabilities by conducting penetration tests (trying to hack the App) on new code deliveries. Working with our development teams, they’ll recommend actions to address any issues found. The team also perform code Security Scanning, provide education and patterns to developers for secure adoption of new technology and provide consultancy to inform security options to support secure project delivery. In this internship, you’ll work collaboratively with teams across multiple technical subject areas and have a chance to work with leading edge technology on new and interesting challenges.
  • Security Education & Training Analyst (Norwich) — our Security Education and Training team are responsible for providing Aviva colleagues with the necessary awareness and skills to help identify potential cyber threats and the steps they can take to protect themselves, our colleagues, our 18.7 million customers and Aviva as an organisation. You’ll get the opportunity to work collaboratively with teams across multiple technical and non-technical subject areas and engage with Aviva employees regarding cyber education and training to limit the likelihood of a successful cyber-attack. You’ll also carry out data investigations and look at what metrics can be used to effectively manage cyber risk across Aviva.
