What skills are required for the Data Scientist Intern position?
Candidates should be pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in quantitative disciplines such as Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, or Electrical Engineering. Prior exposure to best practices through hackathons, design challenges, university projects, or previous internships is also beneficial.
What is the duration of the internship?
The internship will last for 8-10 weeks, starting in early June 2025 and ending in August or September 2025.
Is there a possibility of continuing with the company after the internship?
Yes, there is a possibility of continuing part-time with the work-study internship program or joining First American as a full-time early career hire.
What type of projects will interns work on?
Interns will work on designing data science solutions, developing scripts for automated tasks, performing clustering analysis, leveraging AI and machine learning models, and creating automated reconciliation scripts among other tasks.
What is the pay range for the internship?
The pay range for this internship is $40.00 - $45.00 per hour.
Will there be mentorship available during the internship?
Yes, interns will be paired with a mentor and a buddy to provide guidance and support throughout the internship experience.
Can I apply if I do not live in Southern California?
Yes, the internship is open to university students located anywhere in the continental USA.
