Responsibilities

  • Assist and learn the preparation of estimates by calculating complete quantity takeoffs of the scope of work and assuring estimates are accurate and in line with expected unit cost history as well as profit margins.
  • Assist and learn how to prepare detailed proposal specifications, schedule, and coordinate concept drawings that accurately portray the scope of work and requirements of the project for presentation to the owner.
  • Support both administrative and construction activities as assigned by supervisor; review proposals, specifications and drawings; perform material takeoffs, prepare cost estimates and attend pre-bid investigation meetings.
  • Assess problem situations to identify causes, gather and process relevant information, generate possible solutions, and make recommendations and/or resolve the problem.
  • Review construction documents and understand scope of work needed to bid and execute takeoffs.
  • Assist in list preparation of subcontractors/suppliers confirmed to be bidding on project, as well as reviewing and completing detailed scopes of work and cost comparisons.
  • Reviewing plans and specifications to determine material requirements (quantities and qualities), pricing of materials, etc.
  • Learn to define the scope of the project in collaboration with senior management and determine the resources (time, staff, and equipment) required to complete the project.
  • Review the quality of the work completed with the project team on a regular basis to ensure that it meets the project standards and specification.
  • Learn how all project funds are managed according to established accounting policies and procedures and assist in preparation of financial reports for job cost meetings.
  • Ensure that the project deliverables are on time, within budget, and according to specifications. And evaluate the outcomes of the project as established during the planning phase.
