Who is eligible to apply for the FX - Jedi Academy position?
This position is open to Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents only.
What is the duration of the FX - Jedi Academy program?
The program is a paid 6-week placement beginning on November 12th, 2024.
What is the work schedule for this position?
The position requires full-time work, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday from 9 am to 6 pm.
Do applicants need to have prior work experience in VFX to apply?
Applicants should have graduated from a relevant course within the last 12 months or have up to two years of VFX experience.
Is there any assistance provided for relocation or housing?
No, ILM does not provide assistance for relocation, housing, transportation, or work authorization for the Jedi Academy.
What type of mentorship will participants receive during the program?
Participants will receive mentorship and will work on entry level shot work, including running simple/pre-canned effects, while presenting their work for feedback from supervisors and trainers.
What skills or qualifications are preferred for applicants?
A degree in visual effects or less than 2 years of self-taught work experience is preferred, along with a strong demo reel, organizational skills, and experience with Houdini.
Is scripting experience necessary for applicants?
While scripting experience in Linux or Python is a plus, it is not required for applicants.
What is the hourly pay rate for this position?
The pay rate for this role in Vancouver is C$25.14 per hour.
Will successful participants in the program have job opportunities afterwards?
Yes, graduates who successfully complete the program may be offered a Junior Artist position within the studio.
