  • Current enrollment in a full-time Ph.D. degree program in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering or related disciplines at an ABET accredited university
  • Permanent legal authorization to work in the US is required. This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment.
  • Must be willing to work from the GE Aerospace Research office in Niskayuna, NY
  • Minimum GPA 3.0 / 4.0 scale

Responsibilities

  • As a Component Heat Transfer Intern in the Aerothermal Mechanical Systems Lab, you will have a role in advancing the technology readiness level of thermal design solutions that enable the future of flight: sustainable, high speed, and next generation propulsion.
  • You will participate in the modeling, design, analysis, and/or assembly of test rigs, test equipment, and test articles that push the state of the art of thermal components and systems.
  • An internship with us will provide valuable hands-on experience to help you launch your career in industrial research.
  • Intern assignments are typically for 12-14 weeks; working side by side with experts in the field of mechanical engineering, completing challenging technical projects and applying theoretical knowledge to real-life technical problems.
  • This program includes seminars on cross-center technology and soft skills development as well as opportunities for networking and showcasing project accomplishments.
