  • Basic familiarity with common Linux tools like Bash and the associated CLI tools
  • Exposure to basic networking tools and concepts
  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline
  • 3.0 or higher GPA
  • Part-Time Intern– Must be registered for 6+ credit hours
  • 1+ years of experience using Linux in a classroom or professional setting
  • Experience with configuration management tools like Ansible or similar
  • Experience with version control systems like Git or SVN and associated implementations like Gitlab and Github
  • Experience with HPC-specific software like MPI
  • Experience building and deploying software in a Linux cluster environment
  • Experience with Linux cluster management software like Slurm (preferred) or PBS
  • 10–20 hours per week
  • Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.
  • Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain an active security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • This position entails several duties related to the design, maintenance, and evaluation of high-performance computing systems.
  • Students are expected to evaluate hardware and software alternatives, to install hardware and software on cluster computers, and to engineer specialized software for these systems.
  • In addition, this position requires the regular authorship of work reports, the ability to audit systems as they are altered, and the ability to use modern software tools to specify and alter system configuration.
  • Applicants should expect to work closely with a small team of dedicated HPC specialists.
  • In-person attendance is mandatory as physical access to specific HPC systems is required.
