Responsibilities

  • Working under the direction of the Industrial Design team, as an Industrial Design Intern you will participate in the conceptualization and development of new products. The work in this role is of appropriate difficulty and scope such that it will be completed with specific and detailed instruction as needed from the design staff.
  • Creates Aesthetic Design Solutions
  • Creates aesthetic designs that are aligned with the business strategies and departmental goals.
  • Provides current trend right designs that meet our internal and external customer needs.
  • Communicates design intent through 2D/3D drawings and project documentation to support market research and product development. Creates 3D CAD models of parts and assemblies.
  • Concept Development and Problem Solving
  • Develops and refines concepts and/or specifications to meet project requirements and brand guidelines. Begins to integrate industrial design and requirements for cost solutions.
  • Applies fundamental knowledge of Human Factors, Ergonomics, Usability Analysis, and Product Materials and Manufacturing Processes to personal and Work Team assignments.
  • Applies fundamental knowledge of User Interface (UI) & User Experience (UX) methodologies to personal and Work Team assignments. Applies fundamental knowledge of color, texture, finish and graphics, when required.
  • Works with engineers to ensure aesthetic design is properly implemented in the final product release. Begins to create Industrial Design geometry releases.
  • Visualization/Prototyping
  • Creates 3D visualizations to support market research.
  • Creates design and form study models to progress industrial design concepts. Coordinate internal and/or external resources in creating physical models from the CAD data. (i.e. 3D Print, Stereolithography, Finished Model, & CNC services).
  • Delivers functional and/or aesthetic innovation through industrial design projects and/or activities. Develops advanced industrial design solutions using fundamental innovative methodologies and execution.
  • Supports the Americas Residential organization in design activities outside of the product development process. For example customer tours, packaging concepts, exhibition design, customer collaborations, etc.
