Requirements

  • University Enrollment: Must be currently enrolled in and returning to a degree-seeking academic program.
  • Internship Work Period: Must be available to work full-time (approximately 40 hours per week) during a 10–12-week period starting May or June.
  • Skills, Experience, Education, & Training:
  • Currently enrolled in an Undergraduate / Master’s program in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Biomedical Engineering.
  • Prior use of CAD to design mechanisms in SolidWorks is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team.

Responsibilities

  • Work on projects related to continuous improvement activities in hardening and/or transferring an FDA approved novel portable MRI instrument from R&D to manufacturing.
  • Learn and use a variety of process optimization tools such as 5S and waste analysis to analyze and optimize product transfer and manufacturing layout.
  • Participate in projects and/or activities involving value analysis, design reviews, product transfer, and new product introduction.
  • Communicating and collaborating with multiple teams and stakeholders to provide updates and provide task deliverables.
  • Presenting a project you have been involved with and lessons learned to the organization.
