Requirements

  • Pursuing a BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or similar
  • Experience with Solidworks, geometric tolerancing, design for manufacture (DFM), Raspberry Pi/Arduino, prototyping (machine shop, 3d printing, etc.)
  • Analytical/problem solving skills and ability to use statistical tools and techniques
  • Organization, planning, communication, and time management skills
  • Interest in working on high-reliability, space qualified hardware
  • What Makes You Stand Out:
  • Working toward a Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering or other related engineering or science degree
  • Proficiency in Python, Matlab, Visual Basic, and/or C
  • Coursework or project history where you designed, built and tested an idea that you can discuss in depth
  • A fascination with space and an eagerness to tackle the unique engineering challenges presented by its dynamic conditions
  • EAR/ITAR Requirements:

Responsibilities

  • Impact You’ll Own:
  • Provide support to design, engineering, prototyping, production, and validation activities for various programs at Planet
  • Assist in developing and executing engineering and production tests to drive mechanical design and manufacturing process improvements
  • Design and build test fixtures to support various space hardware programs
  • Document and present work to multi-disciplinary collaborators and leadership
