Requirements

  • Candidate must be enrolled in a degree-granting program during the internship or must be a recent graduate (within 8 months of graduation) of a college or university.
  • Interest and/or experience in graphic design, short-form video, digital communications, professional or campus organizing, grassroots outreach, political campaigns, designing for social media, and/or events canvassing is highly preferred.
  • Applicant should have intermediate to advanced level experience in Canva and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign are a must)
  • Experience working with Adobe Premiere or Final Cut Pro and Adobe After Effects, strongly preferred.
  • Experience designing for digital platforms and web are preferred.
  • UX/UI design experience is preferred.
  • Some video editing experience preferred.
  • Broad understanding of digital tools and social media, with examples of current and successful uses of blogging, Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, Threads, Brandfolder, etc.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills.
  • Commitment to cross-cultural communication.
  • Be responsible, flexible, hard-‐working and committed to the mission of Girl Up
  • Excellent creative vision, attention to detail, and ability to think outside the box
  • Self-starter with both energy and creativity

  • Ability to meet regular attendance/tardiness policy
  • Must have a personal laptop computer and access to the Internet
  • Must be available to work a maximum of 29 hours per week
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Girl Up’s Graphic Designer Associate in creating, designing and applying graphics across Girl Up print resources and digital platforms, as well as for Girl Up events.
  • Support in updating Girl Up’s photo and video curation and organizing assets via Brandfolder.
  • Support video production needs for upcoming events and campaigns, as needed
  • Brainstorm and implement creative ideas for Girl Up’s social platforms, event branding, and merchandise design.
  • Assist in template document and resource creation (i.e. presentation decks, one-pagers, toolkits, and annual reports)
  • Assist with planning, creating, and editing multimedia social media content, such as animated graphics and short-form videos.
  • Additional support tasks as needed.
