What is the Washington External Affairs team responsible for?
The Washington External Affairs team is comprised of the Congress and U.S. Foreign Policy program and CFR's diplomatic and executive branch initiatives. The Congress program engages members of Congress and their staffs on both sides of the aisle with various activities and briefings.
What will the intern gain experience in during this internship?
The intern will gain experience in international relations, congressional relations, Capitol Hill operations, database management, event planning and execution, research, and professional writing.
What are the major responsibilities of this internship position?
The major responsibilities include assisting the Washington External Affairs team with administrative duties, managing congressional contacts and databases, providing logistical support for meetings on Capitol Hill, and conducting research and writing as needed.
What qualifications are required for this internship?
Qualifications include being an undergraduate or graduate student in International Relations, Public Policy, American Government, or Political Science, having completed at least four semesters of college coursework, availability three days a week including Monday and Friday, congressional internship or experience, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and database management, attention to detail and proofreading skills, and ability to work well on a team.
