The primary focus of the internship is to assist in various editorial and research tasks for CFR.org, which includes contributing to the production of Backgrounders, Timelines, Interactives, and In Briefs, as well as staging edits and performing taxonomy work on the website.
What kind of training will interns receive?
Interns selected for CFR’s Blavatnik Internship Program and the Robina Franklin Williams Internship Program will receive training in the fields of foreign policy and international affairs, along with skills training in writing, research, program planning, and more.
What are the major responsibilities of this internship?
Major responsibilities include assisting with research for CFR.org, analyzing data for graphics, staging edits for published content, writing In Brief documents, updating Backgrounders, and performing taxonomy work across the website.
What qualifications are required for applicants?
Applicants should be undergraduate or graduate students focusing on Journalism, Communications, International Relations, History, or Political Science, and must have completed the equivalent of four semesters of college coursework. Previous experience in writing or editing is also needed.
Are there any preferred skills for this internship?
Yes, preferred skills include excellent writing, copyediting, and fact-checking abilities, strong attention to detail, proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, basic HTML knowledge, and familiarity with Google Docs. Additional language skills are useful but not required.
