What is the primary focus of the Legal Internship position at Haskell?
The primary focus of the Legal Internship position is to support Haskell's Legal Team in drafting, reviewing, and revising various agreements related to the design and construction industry, as well as conducting legal research and assisting with corporate matters.
What type of candidate are you looking for?
We are ideally seeking a third-year law student (3L) or a Spring graduate who is interested in taking the bar exam shortly after graduation.
What types of agreements will I be working on?
You will be working on customer agreements, non-disclosure/confidentiality agreements, teaming agreements, subcontract agreements, and IT/technology agreements.
What skills are required for this position?
Required skills include knowledge of contractual and legal concepts, effective verbal and written communication, negotiating and drafting skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, particularly in Microsoft Word.
Will I be involved in negotiations?
Yes, you will engage with the legal team in negotiating terms and conditions of certain agreements.
What kind of research will I be conducting?
You will research case law, legislation, laws, statutes, rules, and regulations that affect corporate and construction industry matters.
Is there a possibility of full-time employment after the internship?
Yes, there is a possibility of full-time placement upon taking the bar exam for qualified candidates.
Are there physical requirements for this internship?
Yes, the position requires ordinary ambulatory skills and the ability to lift, carry, and move light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds, as well as good hand-eye coordination and visual acuity.
